Adhd Coaching
Funding your ADHD coaching — yes, there's actually money for this
If you've got a formal ADHD diagnosis and you're working (even just 8 hours a week), there's a government funding program that can cover ADHD coaching. It's called the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF), and most people have never heard of it.
Here's the short version: up to approximately $1,600–$1,680+ per year, yours to use on coaching that helps you actually function at work. Executive function, time management, managing workload without wanting to fake your own death — that kind of thing.
What is the EAF?
The Employment Assistance Fund is a federal government program designed to help people with disability (including ADHD) access support for staying in work. It's not charity. It's not complicated. It's just a funding stream that most people don't know exists.
You're eligible if you:
-
Are an Australian resident aged 14 or over
-
Have a formal ADHD diagnosis (from a GP or specialist)
-
Are employed or self-employed, working at least 8 hours per week
How to apply
-
Get your paperwork sorted — dig out your ADHD diagnosis documentation.
-
Get a quote — your coach provides a quote with their ABN, what the sessions cover, and the total cost. (We can sort this for you.)
-
Create a myGovID and register on the JobAccess Online Services portal.
-
Submit your application — lodge it under "Specialist Mental Health Support".
-
Wait (unfortunately) — a JobAccess adviser may follow up to chat about your needs. The process typically takes around two weeks, but can stretch to 6–10 weeks, so plan ahead.
-
Get paid back — funding is often approved as reimbursement, meaning you pay upfront and get reimbursed. Some coaches can invoice directly to avoid that step. Ask us about this.
A couple of other things worth knowing
Tax deductions: If your coaching directly relates to maintaining or improving skills in your current job, it may be tax-deductible. Worth checking with your accountant.
Privacy: You don't have to disclose anything to your manager. You can act as your own nominee on the application, or work with a coach who handles the nominee role. The funding is for you, not your employer — though your application will need some basic details about your work situation.
