individual Neuro-Affirming Therapy

Therapy that actually gets autistic and ADHD brains.
If you've tried multiple therapists and nothing's worked, you're not the problem. Traditional therapy wasn't designed for neurodivergent brains.
I specialize in therapy for autistic and ADHD teens (12+) and adults in ipswich. I'm autistic and ADHD myself, so I actually understand what it's like when your brain works differently.
Who This Is For?

You might benefit from neurodivergent-affirming therapy if:
-
You're newly diagnosed autistic or ADHD and navigating what that means
-
You've been in therapy before but felt misunderstood or judged
-
You're experiencing autistic burnout or ADHD overwhelm
-
You're struggling with anxiety, depression, or regulation challenges
-
You're navigating relationships and communication differences
-
You're dealing with identity questions after late diagnosis
-
You mask heavily and don't know who you are underneath
-
You're tired of being told to "just try harder" or "just focus"

Traditional therapy often makes neurodivergent people feel more broken, not less. That's not what happens here.
What We can Work On

Common areas of focus:

-
Emotional Regulation - Managing overwhelm, meltdowns, shutdowns. Building capacity without forcing yourself into neurotypical patterns

-
Identity and Self-Acceptance - Understanding yourself as autistic/ADHD. Unpacking internalized ableism. Finding who you are beyond masking

-
Relationships and Communication - Navigating relationships when your brain works differently. Understanding social dynamics without forcing yourself to be "normal"

-
Life Transitions - Changes are hard for neurodivergent brains. Whether it's diagnosis, job changes, relationship shifts, or life upheaval, we work through it

-
Burnout Recovery - Autistic and ADHD burnout is real and debilitating. We focus on sustainable recovery, not pushing through

-
Anxiety and Depression - These often co-occur with neurodivergence but present differently. I understand the ND presentations that other therapists miss.

-
Executive Function Challenges - ADHD executive dysfunction isn't laziness. It's a neurological difference that needs practical strategies, not judgment.

My Approach

I don't do conventional therapy.
I won't tell you to make eye contact, practice "appropriate" social skills, or hide your stims. I won't pathologize your differences or try to make you less autistic/ADHD.
Instead, we work with how your brain functions:
-
Understanding your neurotype and what you actually need
-
Building regulation strategies that work for your nervous system
-
Practical skills for navigating a neurotypical world while staying true to yourself
-
Processing trauma (including therapy trauma)
-
Finding sustainable ways to function without constant masking and burnout
I'm direct, down-to-earth, and won't bullshit you. If you want polished therapy-speak, I'm not your person. If you want real talk and strategies that actually work, let's work together.
What Makes This Different

I'm diagnosed neurodivergent myself (double whammy AuDHD)
I get it from the inside, the masking, the burnout, the feeling of being an alien, not fitting into a neurotypical world.
I specialize in the clients other therapists just don't quite understand.
Late-diagnosed adults, people who mask heavily, those who've been traumatized by traditional therapy. Teens who won't engage with conventional approaches.
I understand trauma in neurodivergent people.
Many autistic and ADHD people have been traumatized by a world that doesn't understand them, including by therapy itself. I'm trained in trauma work and adapt everything for neurodivergent nervous systems.
I have 15 years experience.
Domestic violence, child protection, complex trauma, neurodivergent-specialized practice. I've seen how mainstream services fail neurodivergent people, so I built something different.

FAQs

Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?
No. If you're self-identified autistic or ADHD and it resonates, that's enough. Formal diagnosis isn't required.

What if I'm not sure I'm neurodivergent?
We can explore that together. Many people come in questioning whether they're autistic or ADHD - that's a completely valid reason to seek therapy.

Do you work with teens?
Yes, I work with teens 12 and over, depending on the young person. Under 10, I typically recommend a child specialist.
How long does therapy take to work?
It depends. Some people need short-term support around a specific issue (diagnosis, life transition). Others benefit from longer-term work. We review regularly and adjust as needed.
What if I've had bad experiences with therapy before?
That's incredibly common for neurodivergent people. Therapy trauma is real. We can go at your pace and I won't push approaches that don't work for you.
